Trip to Germany September 2015

From Tuesday 22nd to Tuesday 29th of September 2,015 we went to Germany to work on the Erasmus+ Project with our German friends!

The institute Europaschule is in Herzogenrath (20 km from Aachen), and it was the capital of the Carolingian Empire and residence of Charlemagne. It was also named Aquis Granum by the Romans due to its local mineral springs. We were fascinated by its cathedral (designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where Charlemagne's remains are interred.

In Brussels, we visited the European Parliament. It was very exciting. Then, we bought some Belgian chocolate in the city centre and in the afternoon we were received by the assistants of some Spanish members of the European Parliament (MEPs). We gave them some suggestions we have prepared to work on the inclusion of people with disabilities in the European society.

In Cologne, we were delighted by its cathedral, designated as a World Heritage Site since 1996, and after lunch we went on a boat trip in the Rhine River. And on Sunday, we were with our families.

It has been a profitable week of cultural immersion (because we have practised a bit of German and a lot of English) and we have also learnt how to live in a different European country.

Now, we are waiting for our German colleagues to come next March!
