2013-2014: Christmas Cards and Traditions- eTwinning Project

October 2013 - January 2014
During the 1st term our school took part in a European Project for students of 1st and 2nd of ESO titled 'Christmas Cards and Traditions'. We used the platform etwinningwhich has the objective of offering easy and safe contact of teachers and students in the European Union and to start projects together. The aim of this project is to learn and to compare Xmas traditions in European countries. Our students improve their language and ICT skills, as well as they learn more about other European countries.
The students of 1st of ESO have prepared handmade Christmas cards and some of them have been sent to our partner school in Poland, to the rest of schools which participate in the project (more than 30) and to personalities related to our school. And to choose the best cards... we organized a contest! All the students who wanted to participate voted for the best three cards (which had a number as you can see in the photos below).

And these are the top 10 most voted Christmas cards!

                                                                           Congratulations to the winners!!

And thank you very much to all the students who made such beautiful and original Christmas cards and to the ones who participated with their votes.

The English teachers made a PowerPoint presentation about our school and town to share with the rest of European schools participating in this project.

First PowerPoint Presentation - Our school and our town

Then we had to choose a traditional Spanish Christmas carol to share with the rest of schools (the musical notes, the lyrics and the audio). We chose 'La Marimorena' and asked the Music teacher (Monsieur Tàrrega) and some volunteers from 'La Escolania' to sing it and record it in video. Thanks a lot!

At the same time, our students of 2nd of ESO have prepared a PowerPoint Presentation about our Christmas national traditions, which has been sent to our partner school.

Second PowerPoint Presentation - Christmas traditions in Spain

Moreover, we have received some Xmas cards from other European countries, connected on the map with the country of the school.

Finally, we decorated our school using the Xmas cards and the PowerPoint presentation so that the students and their families could see and enjoy them on the day of the meeting before Christmas.
